Here is the new Ford Focus 2018!

The fourth generation of Ford Focus arrives with great fanfare, with a strong range of a station wagon, an SUV version and a high end finish.

The new Ford Focus 2018 is the first model of the Blue Oval considered as a global vehicle marketed in all latitudes, the compact celebrates its 20th anniversary, the opportunity of its third renewal. In two decades, 7 million copies have been sold across Europe and 16 worldwide.

We knew the Ford Focus for the eccentricity of their design, although it has softened over the years. This fourth opus now displays a more consensual silhouette, with softened curves. There is more Latinity than in the past, like the pronounced curvature of its rear door pillars, that an Alfa Romeo Giulietta would not deny. Special mention to the light signatures of the front optics, divided into two parts by horizontal LEDs, like the latest Volvo productions.

Based on a new technical Ford platform called C2, which has lightened its weight up to 88 kg, depending on the version, the Ford Focus 2018 offers a longer wheelbase of 5 cm, while its total length increases by only 2 cm to reach almost 4.38 m. This makes it one of the largest compact in the category, among the Volkswagen Golf or Peugeot 308. It also displays a trunk volume of 388 l, up 25 l, compared to the previous model. This new base has allowed the introduction of an active suspension, for the first time. The latter adapts in real time, by analyzing, every two milliseconds, the data returned by the chassis, the steering and the braking, in order to optimize the road behaviour. But the option is still charged 1000 euros.

The new Ford Focus does not waste time and is also revealed under its SW break dress. But also in a new version named Active, looking like a fighter. Upgraded by 3 cm, it boasts its raw plastic wing extensions, as well as its roof bars to walk on the flatbed of the Volkswagen T-Roc, or even the Mercedes GLA. But it is, unfortunately, the impasse on a true all-wheel drive. In addition to a declination ST-Line, lowered by one centimetre, pending the arrival of true sports, the premium finish Vignale made its appearance, with a distinctive look, as evidenced by its chrome grille and interior

The atmosphere on board offers nothing revolutionary in design, basing itself on the fundamentals initiated by the recent generation of Fiesta. The new Ford Focus 2018, however, strengthens its technological baggage, acquiring for the first time a head-up display. But it ignores the digital screen, facing the driver, to stay faithful to analogue meters. The centre console slab provides an 8 “diagonal and provides access to a real modem for Wi-Fi and the latest generation of SYNC infotainment 3. Recharging a smartphone by induction is also welcome.

On the safety side, the Ford Focus articulates its endowment around a pack called Co-Pilot360. Among the most notable equipment, there will be a collision avoidance system with pedestrian and bicycle detection, present on all models. It can be supplemented by blind spot monitoring technology with alert vehicles approaching and preventive braking, as well as a centring aid in the track. In traffic jams, the new Ford Focus 2018 facilitates the evolution of a system similar to the Trafic Jam Assist of the Volkswagen Group. Through its adaptive cruise control, the compact can stop completely and restart automatically.

Adaptive full LED headlights have an anti-glare function, combined with a predictive technology for reading traffic signs to adjust the angle and intensity of the light beam around a corner or crossing.

Under the hood, the new Ford Focus relies on the faithful three-cylinder blocks that made its reputation. To know the 1.0 l EcoBoost, a petrol engine declined in 85, 100 and 125 hp. A new 1.5 l of 150 and 182 hp is appearing. These two blocks can deactivate a cylinder in order to lower their consumption.

The novelty is also at the rendezvous in diesel, with a 1.5 l called EcoBlue, available in 95 and 120 hp, alongside a 2.0 l of 150 hp.

Launched during the month of July, the Ford Focus 2018 is already revealing its prices. It will be available from 19,550 euros. Count 950 euros extra to opt for the break.
